• Marlee Carrier-Schmitz

    FOUNDER, CHOREOGRAPHER & INSTRUCTOR

    Marlee is a Fresno native whose love for dance began the moment she could walk. With a diverse background in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Contemporary, Tumbling, Pep/Cheer, Gymnastics, Musical Theatre, Lyrical, Hip-Hop, and Clogging, she has trained extensively throughout both the San Francisco Bay Area and Fresno.

    Marlee began her teaching journey in 2011 at DanceWorks Unlimited under the mentorship of David Bonetto, instructing dancers from ages two to eighty in Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, and technique. From 2015 to 2018, she continued to teach and inspire in the Bay Area while performing as a professional dancer at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom.

    With a degree in Dance and an insatiable passion for growth, Marlee continues to expand her knowledge of technique and teaching practices. She is also a gifted choreographer, having created hundreds of original works—with over 500 pieces choreographed to date. Her work has earned numerous choreography, excellence, and studio awards, a testament to her artistry and dedication.

    Outside the studio, Marlee is a passionate musician, songwriter, and producer. Her original music has been featured on the radio, and she has performed live shows from San Francisco to Los Angeles. She writes and produces all of her own work, blending her love for music and movement into a unique creative force.

    Marlee’s mission is to make dance accessible, inspiring, and rooted in excellence and self-love. As the founder of Adagio Dance Company, she remains committed to cultivating a space where dancers of all ages can grow not just as artists—but as confident, compassionate individuals.

  • Victoria Perez

    Assistant Competition Director

    Victoria’s focus is towards connection of emotion and movement. Her main styles of dance consist of modern, lyrical, contemporary and jazz. Victoria spent 4 years studying dance at Humboldt State University in which she received her minor in dance. In these years she has spent choreographing for group performances. Victoria has been dancing for over 10 years. She has also received her bachelors for kinesiology and exercise science and loves understanding how the body works and moves. Her inspiration for her style stem from Martha Graham and Isadora Duncan. She loves teaching and allowing freedom of expression.

  • Miz-Unique Slater

    Jazz, Contemporary, Technique, Hip-Hop & Heels

    Hello, I’m Miz-Unique’ Slater, co-owner of Revive Dance Company and your future Adagio Dance Coach. Originally from Panorama City, CA, but raised in New Orleans, LA, dance has been a vital part of my life since childhood. I began my journey in liturgical dance ministries and evolved into a nationally ranked dancer across various genres, with my passion for dance always shining through. Over the past decade, I have been privileged to create, teach, and serve my community through the art of movement, viewing it as both a means of physical fitness and a healing sanctuary. While I’ve formed successful collaborations with many creatives, Adagio holds a special place in my heart because it allows me to share a nurturing space for growth with all of you while guiding you in dancing your way towards your goals.

  • Crystal Snively

    Assistant Director

    Crystal has loved dance, especially tap dance, for as long as she can remember! She began studying tap dance at Fresno City College under David Bonetto for two semesters from 2015-2017. Then, in 2017, she studied tap at Danceworks Unlimited, where she continues to dance under the instruction of David Bonetto. She has also studied tap, jazz, and lyrical dance from Marlee Schmitz at both Danceworks Unlimited, and Adagio Dance Company. Crystal began instructing and choreographing all age groups in tap dance for Adagio in 2022. Crystal is currently obtaining an AA in Business Administration through FCC.

  • Lourdes Orozco

    Ballet

    Lourdes grew up training in various styles of dance including ballet, jazz, song pom, and contemporary. After her years of performing were over, she continued her involvement in the dance world as a teacher and choreographer for CMT, pom teams, and local dance studios. Following her completion of nursing school she decided to continue her passion of educating in both pilates and dance. Lourdes has coached the Clovis High School Competition pep team for five years and offers one on one training for dance technique and reformer pilates. She is also on Song Staff for the United Spirit Association (USA) where she has the opportunity to choreograph and work with students at the high school and college level.

    Outside the studio, she works as an Emergency Registered Nurse, bringing a unique blend of empathy and discipline to all she does.

  • Karis Fisher

    Jazz, Leaps & Turns, Contemporary & Ballet

    Born and raised in Clovis, Karis Fisher has been dancing since the age of two and competing since the age of six. She comes from a proud family of dancers—her grandmother was a successful dance studio owner, and her mother was an NFL cheerleader—instilling in her a deep passion for dance from an early age.

    Throughout her training, Karis has studied a wide range of styles including ballet, jazz, contemporary, musical theatre, lyrical, tumbling, cheer, pep, and pom. She has attended top-tier dance conventions and trained with renowned choreographers from around the world. Karis has been recognized for her talent with numerous dance scholarships and was named 2024 Miss Photogenic at Revolution Dance Nationals.

    She was also a proud member of her high school’s four-time CIF Champion Pep Squad and is currently a member of the Ole Miss Dance Company, where she continues to pursue her passion for performance.

    Karis enjoys modeling as well and has modeled high-end designer gowns for Mia Bella Boutique.

    She is currently studying at Ole Miss, working toward becoming a registered dietitian, blending her love of movement, health, and empowering others.

  • A.J. Lacuesta

    A.J. is currently an adjunct faculty member for the Fresno City College dance department and the kinesiology department at Fresno State, and is also an intervention specialist at Washington Unified School District. He graduated California State University Fresno with a master of arts and bachelor of science in Kinesiology Exercise Science. He is a U.S. Navy veteran and former group fitness instructor in dance, kickboxing, resistance training and cycling. He has taught at Break The Barriers, Le Reve Dance Academy and Valses De La O studio. He currently teaches hip-hop at Fresno City College and Elementary Social Dancing at Fresno State.

  • Sheila Ambrosio

    Hip-Hop & Krump

    Sheila discovered her passion for dance at the age of 10 and has since dedicated herself to growing as both a performer and instructor. She specializes in Hip-Hop, Krump, and Jazz funk, bringing high energy, precision, and encouraging creativity through each of her classes.

    In 2016, Sheila joined McCoy Hip-Hop, where she continued to develop her unique style. In 2024, she became a member of Teocalli Dance Academy, expanding her dance repertoire to include traditional Folklórico, embracing the opportunity to grow artistically and culturally.

    Sheila is currently pursuing her degree at Fresno State and serves as a dance instructor for the FUSD afterschool program, where she shares her love for movement with the next generation of dancers.

  • Giselle Vue

    Tumble, Cheer & Pom

    Giselle Vue has been a cheerleader nearly her entire life, beginning her journey at just five years old. From Pop Warner and school cheer to all-star and collegiate, she’s experienced every side of the sport. She spent four incredible years on the Clovis High Competition Team, SuperSquad, serving as captain during both her junior and senior year. She capped off her high school cheer career by earning the prestigious Mealer Award.

    After graduation, Giselle continued her cheer journey at Fresno State, where she spent three years cheering on the sidelines and competing on the university’s competition team—ultimately earning a Collegiate National Championship title in 2021.

    Over time, Giselle discovered her true passion lies in teaching and choreography. Known for her creative eye and uplifting leadership, she loves crafting routines that help kids feel confident, safe, and empowered. As a current USA Cheer Staff member and tumbling coach, Giselle dedicates her time to mentoring young athletes, encouraging them to grow not just in skill but in self-belief. She’s on a mission to inspire the next generation of cheerleaders and dancers to achieve just as much—or more—than she has.

    Giselle is currently attending Fresno State, working toward a degree in Sports Marketing. Her love for sports was sparked by years spent on the sidelines as a cheerleader, and now she’s passionate about combining that experience with her interest in social media—using it as a powerful tool to capture moments, promote events, and bring the energy of sports to life through digital storytelling.

  • Zoey Flores

    Hip-Hop

    Zoey began her dance training in 2017 at Dance Works, where she developed a strong foundation in tap and jazz. In 2020, she joined the Adagio competition team and began exploring lyrical and contemporary styles under the mentorship of Mrs. Marlee. That same year, she discovered a deep passion for hip-hop and began working closely with A.J. Lacuesta, who helped shape her unique movement style and performance presence.

    Continuing her growth, Zoey began training in krump in 2023 with Sheila Ambrosio, expanding both her skill set and artistic expression. She is now also a dedicated member of the Clovis High School sideline pep team.

    As Adagio’s first official protégé, Zoey has shown a deep commitment not only to her own development as a dancer, but also to uplifting and inspiring others. Her leadership and spirit have made her a role model for our younger students, and she is passionate about encouraging the next generation to dance boldly, support each other fiercely, and always lead with heart.
